More about Disaster Response Solutions
Disaster Response Solutions is a privately owned company with over twenty-seven years of manufacturing experience in the travel trailer and motor home industry.
Since 1992, Disaster Response Solutions has become a leading supplier of disaster relief housing to the United States Government, Federal Emergency Management Agency, (FEMA) supplying temporary housing for multiple stateside disasters. Disaster Response Solutions began our relationship with FEMA in 1992 providing emergency housing trailers for victims of Hurricane Andrew in Florida. Since then, our manufacturers have produced tens of thousands of temporary housing travel trailers for emergency relief efforts, some of which include:
- 1997 Minnesota flooding relief
- 1997 2004 Hurricane Charley
- 1999-2004 flooding relief to West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana and South Carolina; and
- 2005 Hurricanes Katrina and Rita
Disaster Response Solutions consistently outperforms the recreational vehicle industry and the support of emergency housing relief. Disaster Response Solutions also delivers the best value with its production capacities and on time delivery to meet our costumer's needs.
When the United States Government called us to assist relief efforts to provide emergency temporary housing for the Hurricane Katrina victims, we were able to immediately start production and began shipping 100 travel trailers per day only one day after the hurricane landed upon New Orleans.
In 2004, the Manufacturer Partners of Disaster Response Solutions were one of only two recreational vehicle manufacturers to receive the Vincennes University Gold Award for Quality and Productivity in manufacturing. This honor was accomplished while building emergency temporary housing trailers for FEMA. Maintaining this level of excellence has been made possible in part by our Manufacturer Partner’s commitment to quality through six sigma quality initiatives and advanced manufacturing techniques.
Disaster Response Solutions continues to actively develop emergency housing for the needs far beyond the scope of state side emergency relief housing. In meeting these requirements of providing emergency housing shelters for countries outside the United States, Disaster Response Solutions is pleased to announce the development of emergency housing shelters for transitional and temporary shelters for disaster recovery which exceed both seismic and hurricane resistant criteria. These structures meet the fast deployment requirements and are easily assembled by two people with minimal instruction in less than four hours when following the assembly instructions provided.
Disaster Response Solutions' emergency housing shelters provide up to 320 square feet of secure living space and function as single-family homes, providing sleeping accommodations for up to sixteen people per unit depending on the floor plan selected.
Disaster Response Solutions' emergency housing units are fully enclosed laminated and structural panels providing the engineered strength and security to withstand 130 mile per hour hurricane force winds, loads and seismic activity in the following hurricane regions: U.S. Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico coasts, where the basic wind speed is greater then 90mph, and Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands, and America Samoa. (Exposure category “B” type II structural buildings). In addition, Disaster Response Solutions emergency housing units are engineered to withstand Seismic Loads per IBC 2006 (ASCE7-05).
Unlike “container housing” or simple tarps, tents and plastic sheeting which have to date functioned as temporary housing. The Disaster Response Solutions emergency housing units are constructed for easy assembly of state of the art materials and methods which provide the strength and integrity along with a number of important features for their occupants.
